Action Plan
Current solutions for human trafficking are laws working against them. Every state has at least one law that prevent human trafficking from happening, or tries, and convicts those who do commit human trafficking. I believe that convicting people of human trafficking is an effective solution because every time that there is an arrest made, then that is one more bad guy off of the street. It might be impossible to get everyone off the street, but eventually, little by little, the rates start to decrease and convictions get higher. Social Justice can make student aware of human trafficking being a problem not only in the third world but in the United States as well. SoJo can have either small informational meeting that allow for students to learn how this is a problem everywhere. During these informational meetings, pamphlets can be passed out and that spreads the word among students. Our communities as well can support SoJo the same. By having community meetings and informing that human trafficking happens in Chicago as well. The larger world can come together as one and come up with solutions that are realistic for everyone.
Part of my personal action was creating a Tumblr account that I myself is in charge for. In this Tumblr account, I post pictures about human trafficking, statistics hoping to reach out to people to make them notice that human trafficking is a problem here in the U.S, not just in the third world. My latest posts are about the abduction of the nearly 300 girls in Nigeria who were taken from a school by a Islamist group, who is threatening to sell them.
